Specialist Services
As well as the general intensive care of critically ill children and the national congenital cardiac programme, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children is a leading centre for all aspects of extracorporeal life support in children, both cardiac and non cardiac. Our Unit is also a part of several other nationally designated paediatric services for Scotland:
• Airway Surgery
• Renal Services including transplantation
• Stem Cell Transplantation
With Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, we are one of two UK designated centres for the treatment of Vein of Galen aneurysms in children.
In addition, we also provide support to the West of Scotland Regional Neuro-Surgery programme including craniofacial surgery. We are a COBIS Scottish Paediatric Burn Centre and we also provide post-operative care to patients from maxillofacial surgery, cleft palate surgery, orthopaedics and plastics/reconstructive surgery.
