PLASMA-TV/SEPT-UK – Point Prevalence Study of Plasma Transfusion Exposure

An international point prevalence study of plasma transfusion in paediatric intensive care. 

Objectives

 

To identify patient characteristics and clinical conditions leading to plasma transfusion in critically ill children, to assess effect of plasma transfusion on coagulation tests and to assess the outcome after plasma transfusions

Point prevalence for 6 weeks over a 6 month period

RIPC STUDY— Remote Ischaemic Preconditioning

A prospective interventional study to examine the effect of remote ischaemic preconditioning in cardiac dysfunction and end-organ injury following cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass in children.  A translational approach investigating clinical outcome and myocardial molecular biology.

The Assessment of Long Chain Fat Intakes during the Management of Paediatric Chylothorax

A study to review diet therapy of all paediatric congenital heart patients diagnosed with chylothorax.   To ascertain, through prospective analysis, LCT intakes of all patients diagnosed with chylothorax during their dietary therapy and compare against current dietary recommendations.
